We've basically put in all the hard 'physical' yards that we can, so from here on in it's all about staying well, uninjured, and doing a bit of maintenance and polishing wherever possible!
This weekend is a 'short' week, we alternate the weekends from big sessions to easier ones, and throw in any runs and swims we can get in during the week.
Today we had a 1.5hour bike ride .. basically to Shoal Bay for coffee and back home!! Yep, it's more like a weekend off than anything!
Dean is nursing a swollen knee, thinks it is osteoarthritis, so he's focusing on water running and only walking ... fast on flat trails, and just hoping that it will settle down over the next few weeks.
In the background, our thoughts are taken up with organising what to leave in drop-bags at the different check points ... we will want to change socks, shoes, and various items of clothing depending on what the weather is doing. We can leave a bag at the 54km, 67km, and 89km check points, and the general feeling is that it will be better to have too much stuff there to choose from rather than not enough.
oh .. and I've also promised myself (until race day) to stay off caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and other related junk!! And .. to stretch EVERY day, and use the trigger-point therapy rollers to work out the knots and tight spots in my muscles. Sounds very boring I know .. but, I have to give myself every possible chance to get to the finish line!!
